ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Center for Retailing Studies offers a formal Internship Program which has placed over 1700 students in retailing internships
throughout the United States over the past 25 years in areas such as store management, buying, advertising, marketing, human resources,
distribution, and information systems. This past summer, 112 students were placed in 34 companies and two of these students completed
internships abroad.
Student Benefits:
The successful completion of a retailing internship is a requirement for the Certificate in Retailing,
the center’s keynote academic program. In addition to the certificate, students may receive academic credit for the internship work
by enrolling in MKTG 484.
Employer Benefits:
Through internships, employers receive the opportunity to observe potential full-time employees. Many companies use the internship
program as an intense interview process challenging students to bring new ideas to the table.
Finding an Internship:
To assist students in locating internships, the Center sponsors the Retailing Career Fair.
Twice a year, in in the fall and early spring, the Retailing Career Fair connects retailers with students from all business disciplines
who are passionate about the industry. The career fair is often cited by students as the first point of contact with their future employers
for internships and full-time placements.
Additional Resources:
In addition to the Retailing Career Fair we encourage students to use the TAMU Career Center’s on-line system to post resumes,
learn about job vacancies, and sign-up for interviews. For more information about the TAMU Career Center contact Callie Schleider
